Welcome to No Time For Fear, the New Deal history podcast where we examine how the United States’ ambitious response to the Great Depression can provide a blueprint for improving Americans’ lives nearly a century later.
The host of the NO TIME FOR FEAR podcast is Eira Tansey. Eira is an archivist, researcher, and consultant who lives in the Ohio River Valley watershed. She recently authored A Green New Deal for Archives which draws inspiration from the original New Deal’s Historical Records Survey and Farm Security Administration photographs to argue for new public investment in archives, which face twin challenges of employment issues and climate change.
Eira has harbored an intense fascination for the New Deal and the pre-WWII Roosevelt administration since reading Nick Taylor’s American Made many years ago. As a millennial who has lived through the hollowing out of government and the public sector, the fact that our country once accomplished so much in such a short span of time during a period of intense international political change has provided her with an endless source of inspiration.
